What is it for?
The Youth Membership Card gives you access to all Youth Hostels of the National Network of Youth Tourism. If you do not have the Youth Card (Cartão Jovem) then the presentation of the youth membership card is mandatory.

At what age can I get the Youth Membership Card?
You can ask for your Youth Membership Card as of the age of 12.

Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit to get your Youth Membership Card.

What is the validity of the card?
The Youth Membership Card is valid for one year as from the date of issue.

Where can I use it?
You can use your Youth Membership Card at national and international Youth Hostels. 

What documents do I need to present to get the Youth Membership Card?
For the Individual Youth Membership Card:
Identification Card
Taxpayer Card (if you have it)
For the Group Youth Membership Card:
Entity’s Taxpayer Card.

Can I lend my card?
The Youth Membership card is personal and non-transferable and therefore can not be used by others than its owner. 

Is one Card per room enough?
The Youth Membership Card is personal and non-transferable so even if you stay in a double room each person has to present his/her card.

What types of cards are there?
The Youth Membership Card has the following modalities:
- Individual (for individual clients)
- Group (only for entities; it can not be issued as a family card)

Can a foreigner ask for a Youth Membership Card?
The Portuguese Youth Membership Card can only be issued to Portuguese citizens or foreigners with residence permit in Portugal.

How much does it cost?
Individual: 6,00 €
Group: 37,50 €
Group Schools: 26,25 €
