The first Youth Hostels appeared in Portugal in the 50`s, with a social role that our non-for-profit organisation continues to develop nowadays. The youth turism network has been expanding and actually there are 42 Youth Hostels, 4 Youth Centres and the Gil Eannes Ship, covering most of the country.
